The documentary shows the making of the artwork ‘Future Past Glory’ (2018) at the Beatrixpark; a large scaled headpiece, honoring the work and life of Amsterdam’s first female urban planner Jakoba Mulder (1900-1988).

Night Catch – Sculptures by Heringa/Van Kalsbeek

Sliding through the twilight zone of this overwhelming solo exhibition with  large format, dynamism and expressive nature of the sculptures.
The monumental Zundert sculptures form the core of the exhibition Night Catch, which occupies the entire first floor of the Stedelijk Museum ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In the centre of the exhibition The Chinese Room with small ceramic works.

Avro Kunstuur – Heringa/Van Kalsbeek & Corso Zundert – 2013
The flower parade in Zundert (Brabant, the Netherlands) has been a source of inspiration for artist duo Heringa/Van Kalsbeek for years – not the parade itself, but the decay that sets in when it is all over and the floats are left at the mercy of the elements. But the construction process in which the gigantic floats seem to grow almost organically – and in which controlled accidents regularly occur – is a source of inspiration as well. This process of building and decay has many points in common with how Heringa/Van Kalsbeek work.

When the duo Heringa/Van Kalsbeek were invited by the Van Gogh House in Zundert to work together with the float constructors in 2013, they eagerly seized the opportunity. New sculptures emerged from the intensive and cordial cooperation, making use of the scale and technique that the builders had developed. The duo cut up, distorted and combined the work of the float builders to come up with capricious sculptures.

Hollandse Meesters – Heringa/Van Kalsbeek
Kort documentaireportret van het kunstenaarsduo Heringa / Van Kalsbeek. Heringa / Van Kalsbeek ontwikkelt kleurige, barokke sculpturen vanuit een basiskern. Die kern kan een gevonden, gekochte of speciaal gecreëerde vorm zijn. Hierbij is het uiteindelijke werk een leesbare structuur van woekerend keramiek, porselein, kunsthars, nylondraad en veren rond een duidelijk centrum. Hollandse Meesters in de 21e eeuw is een reeks korte gefilmde portretten van hedendaagse beeldend kunstenaars in hun atelier of op hun werkplek.

De Grote Kunstshow benut het theater om hedendaagse kunst op een andere, aansprekende manier voor het voetlicht te brengen. Het gaat om kunstwerken van prominente hedendaagse Nederlandse kunstenaars, waaronder zelfs nieuw werk dat nog niet eerder is getoond. Met licht en geluid, drama en verstilling, gesprek en monoloog presenteren de kunstwerken zichzelf of vertellen anderen, geïnspireerd op het werk, hun verhaal. Want of het nou om de waarheid, een interpretatie of fantasie gaat, achter elk kunstwerk gaan vele verhalen schuil.
De kunstwerken zijn afkomstig uit de Rabo Kunstcollectie, één van de belangrijkste bedrijfscollecties van eigentijdse Nederlandse kunst, met werk van o.a. Aernout Mik, Charlotte Dumas, Marc Bijl, Guido van der Werve, Rineke Dijkstra, Heringa/Van Kalsbeek en Joep van Lieshout.
